My younger sister has a 3 yr old, my even younger brother and his fiancee just recently got pregnant. They can't financially take care of their unborn child and has asked us if we would like to adopt it. Can they just sign their parental rights over to us without getting lawyers involved and spending all that money? She is debating over whether or not to have an abortion. I believe that the baby should have a chance at life. Should I even concider this or should I just keep trying to concieve on my own? The doctor's say that I am normal that sometimes women don't have periods. My overies are ok, I had a sonogram. What can I do to get pregnant we have been trying for about a year and a half now? Is there a certain position you need to be in to get pregnant easier? I have a lot of questions but I really want a baby. Please help

If your brother is willing to give the child to you instead of the mother killing it, I would definitely take the child.

As for fertility. If you are not having periods, you are not ovulating regularly. Some women experience anovulatory bleeding that can be mistaken for a period and so even women who have regular "periods" can sometimes be anovulatory. If you chart your fertility signs, you may be able to pinpoint when you are fertile and about to ovulate so you can conceive regardless of irregular ovulation. You may also be able to determine the cause of your lack of ovulation (too little or too much estrogen, overweight or underweight, nutrtional status, etc).

I highly recommend charting your fertility signs. Your chart can tell you when you are fertile and when you are not. It can reveal causes of delaying conception or difficulty in carrying a pregnancy. It can be used to monitor overall and gynocological health too. Many women use their charts for acheiving and avoiding pregnacy.

Some good sources: Couple to Couple League's webste CCLI.org, Ovusoft.com, and Fertilityfriend.com. The books The Art of Natural Family Planning and Taking Charge of Your Fertility are excellent resources too.

You could still consider adopting the baby or being the baby's guardian and still continue to try for your own. The real question is, say you decided to take the baby and then found out that you were pregnant, do you honestly think you would treat that child like your own? If the answer is yes be their guests. Another thing you could also do is let them write a letter stating that you will take care of their baby until they are financially stable, also let them sign it and keep it as proof incase they try to play you in the end. My thing is this, why would a woman who's about to get married and just found out that she is pregnant would want to abort her child? Forget finances, alot of young single moms have done it on their own, it's two of them! Please find out from your brother without her knowing and ask who first brought up abortion, if he says her then she is suspicious of something or maybe not. This just doesn't seems right to me.

Don;t let your brother get rid of that baby, I would let them know I would take care of the baby and worry latter about the legal procedures to adopt it.There is no real answer of when or if you will be able to conceive some people take even 8 years, any ways you'll love your nephew as your own and I promise you this baby will bring you so much joy you won;t regret it.

For the you getting prego thing, I would see a Dr. Stay away from fertility drugs though, you can have problems and they tend to produce twins and more babies then 1. As far as the brother thing. . . I think you can go to the court house and have them sign it over. I know a parent can sign over temp. custody but can take it away at anytime. Check at the court house and go from there.
