I was listening to an interview of a former Al Queda member (who got out before killing anybody), and he said that IF the house gets their way, and IF we withdraw our troops it is absolutely imperative that we make it look like a victory. That all the media and everybody looks at it saying "yes, we won." because if we don't it will only embolden terrorists groups and make them think that their tactics worked, and as a result we will see even more violence and terror than before.
So, IF we withdrawl our troops by fall '08, is there any shred of a possibility of us at least making it look like a victory?

Yes, I would pay attention to what this guy says because he knows how they think - knowing how your opponet thinks is vital to any war (or any sort of competition for that matter).

I agree that if it comes to that, where we are being forced by a democratic government to pull out, we MUST make it look like a victory. However, if the dems truly think that they can play mind games with these militants, they are seriously dillusional! These terrorists have mastered head games! At the first sign of the removal of US forces, I guarantee that these cartoon commercials we've seen that are played in Iraq and Iran, will become cartoons about the terrorists and their victory over The US. The US, regardless of its attempt to claim victory, will be mocked and never again considered a threat by these people, and it would be just a matter of time before the entire middle east comes under communist rule. Then the US will truly know the feeling of defeat.

I think its way tooooooooooo late for that!
Bush could of and should of Declared a Huge Victory right after we brought down Saddam Hussein and the Iraqi people had their elections!
That was the time to Bring the troops home and let the Iraqis control the situation!
Bush's failure to do so amounted to another one of his many failures in Iraq, and unfortunately he would have been hailed as one of The Greatest American Presidents since George Washington or even Abe Lincoln had he done so!
Instead and most likely either out of greed or just plain stupidity he opted not to do this and his Legacy now will be the Millstone called Iraq that he has hung around the American Peoples neck - which will never be forgiven or forgotten!
Lo Siento!

We have been at war with radical Islam since Iran took our embassy people hostage during the Carter administration. We chose to ignore this disease known as international terrorism for decades. We finally realized that we are at war after the attack on 9/11. The only reason it ended up in Iraq right now is Saddam overplayed his hand. He would still be in power if he had cooperated with the UN inspectors. He liked making everyone believe he had horrible weapons. After 9/11 we could not take the chance that he did and might provide the technology to terrorists. Since we were still at war with Iraq since Dessert Storm, we took the opportunity to take out his perceived threat.
The terror supporting countries in the region realize the threat to them that a Free Iraq would pose, have been supporting the insurgency with money and sophisticated weapons. The disease of fundamentalist Islam tyranny cannot abide the cure that liberty brings to the long suffering people of the Middle East.

The only way we can make it look like a victory is if it is a victory.
If we pull out before the job is done it's a failure and the terrorist and the world will know that.

I agree with you. Whenever, if ever we leave Iraq, it must be because of victory. There is no other way.

War is nothing but a bunch of pr1ck waving anyway and Bush and his friends just don't want to admit that they lost a war that shouldn't have been in the first place. Like he found a way to lie us INTO it, but now he can't lie his way OUT of it.
