Not nearly enough. They say you're supposed to save 1/3 of your income, but who can really afford to do that in this day and age. I put away 10% of what I earn before taxes into my 401K, and then the 15th of every month I put $50 into my savings account. And if I get tax refund money or something, I might try to save some of that, but like everyone else, I've got bills to pay, and I want to have some fun on the weekends, go to movies, concerts, etc. I would like to save more, but I can't afford it. As a single person I don't even make $30,000 per year. As long as I don't dip into my savings to cover normal monthly expenses, I think I'm ok, but I've had to dip a little here and there for things like car repairs and dental bills and stuff. I try my best, and I manage financially. Good luck trying to figure out what you can afford to save.

Don't know. I have 10% go into my 401K at work, and $50 every other week from my paycheck goes direct deposit to my savings account. After I have paid my bills at the end of the month, I keep about $100 in my checking and send the rest to savings.

Around 14%. 4% going into 401-K matched by employer and 10% going into savings every month plus interest.

10%. Which probably isn't enough, but I'm also saving up for Boo's college education.
I hope she gets a full scholarship!
