When i stop the car slowly for the red light, the engine suddenly stop running and the car dies. i can always restart it, but it could take a couple of tries. This happened three times in the past two months, and the occurrence is completely unpredictable. Otherwise, the car runs fine. There is no warning sign for the engine problem. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Sounds like you idle sensor, throttle position sensor, or map sensor to me. Not an expensive fix, and fairly easy. All three will cost you less than 100.00 total, and about an hour total in time to do it.

properly, a ninety 4 buick century has a three.1L V-6, yet i'm no longer judging, lol! properly, i wager the first step in my diagnostic technique is to retrieve the codes kept contained in the computer. autozone can attempt this for you in case you are able to get the vehicle to them. in line along with your indications, i could say the catalytic converter may be plugged. which will reason a lack of ability, likely getting worse because the engine heats up. it is going to reason misfires, it may reason an smell, and it will be unsafe to emphasise if the vehicle gained't get out of it truly is own way.

my best answer is you coil igition pack you need to check the voltage when you motor is off whit the ignition key on ,you have to get not less than13.19vlts on each coil on evry one ,first you need to do check for continuity on each spark plug wire and repalce you spark plugs ,you coil pack mabe get over hot , and you car stop running ,or you last choice like the other guy say change you map sensor at last ,why because you map sensor send small signals to the fuel injectors and the coil pack so they recive the signal every time the motor strucks at time so you motor burn fuel eficiently and runs better, you tps only warm up you car on a idle time so when you car get the proper ridings on you pcm you car back to the proper idle when worm up,dont chage you tps, remember clean air and clean fuel make you car runs better, and use a fuel injector cleaner at list every2 months
