WELL, first of all, it IS an advert for chewing gum - but even though I'm out-and-out pure-bred English, I find all of the adverts in the series most offensive, especially to the West Indian people.

I agree with other responses that says it makes no sense at all, and is a way to fill space.
I once read that adverts need not be pleasant or make sense, but get attention for the product. When considering most round these days, I would say that the not making sense leads the way.

how does it not make sense, if mastication means chew then its the perfect word for chewing gum!
perosnally i think the ad could be seen as a little racist, white people putting on west indian accents with no other aim than to raise a laugh.
worst ad on tv and i wont be buying their gum because of it.

trident is the brand name for chewing gum, and mastication is the scientific word for chewing. personally i find it very irritating, though more irritated than offended.

I think it is another of those "waste of space adverts" far too many of them on TV now.

My view is that your question makes no sense.
Unless you are trying to be funny, then you have failed.
