If you are referring to making your own choices (curfew, etc) well, if you live at home....you live by your parents rules. If you are out on your own....you have lots of freedom but the law of numbers will still apply (21-drinking age etc.)

Until you turn 18, Mom and Dad are in control unless you’ve been emancipated in some manner such as marriage (requires parental contest) or court decree (there are many requirements for it, and it’s rarely granted).
At 18, you get your freedom. There is no exception to that (unless you’re deemed mentally incompetent). The “…unless attending secondary school full time or up to age 20 whichever comes first” is in reference to child support only. But, at 18, if you still live at home, Mom and Dad can certainly say, “Either follow my rules or move out”.

What is freedom ? You live in America where the only freedom you have is being allowed to work for the organized criminal element in Washington. If they think you're not giving them what you should, they come to your house and take it and put you in prison if they want to! So, you have no freedom, just like everyone except the illegals, they receive a free ride!

When the law looks at what is considered adult or juvenile, it determines what the state "Age of Majority" is for the state.
In North Carolina, the Age of Majority, is 18.
The Age of Majority is by law the chronological moment when children legally assume majority control over their persons and their actions and decisions, thereby terminating the legal control and legal responsibilities of their parents over and for them.
There is one exception in North Carolina to that age with that exception being "18 years, unless attending secondary school full time or up to age 20 whichever comes first."
Hope this helps......best wishes!

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can be used against you in a court of law. And until you are either emancipated or 18, thats the way of it. You have to abide to reside.
