They will be available from the relevant awarding body, who staged the test for you.
Copies are available at a cost, usually around £7 each. If you simply want them as a keepsake or to pass down to your family, then this is the route you should take.
However, if you just require the details for for the purposes of forming a CV document, then you only need those details. The certificates would hold the information and be a form of proof, but you can easily sign a declaration of their details without the actual certificates! I.E, result and subject type, approximate date you sat the test, awarding body etc, and sign the thing 'to the best of my knowledge'.
Those certificates older than three years are generally disregarded as prior experience anyway unless specifically requested for a niche purpose.
Experience you have gained since 1971, in the workplace is far more accepted and relevant than what you were doing back in those good old days.

Get in touch with the education authority where you sat you exams, you can get a copy for a small fee.

why dont you ring your school and ask them for them they should have them on file in the school
