my mom and I are very close, I recently moved about 15hrs away from home, and the last time I saw her to visit was on Christmas Day. This weekend she and her husband we're in town for business and are only a few hours away from me, so they had planned on stopping by. I stayed late every day this week so that I could have a half day today and be home to meet them when they arrive. They will only be able to stay until 5am tomorrow morning because they have to catch a flight, so I will only see her for about 15 hrs (8 of those sleeping anyways)
ANYWAYS...she calls me this morning to say that her husband bought a new car while down here, and that now they have to go to the dealership to sign papers, drop off the rental, etc. So they will not be here until about 4-5 hours later than I had expected. My step-dad ALWAYS does stuff like this, always ruining plans and changing things and making everybody late, I can't Stand it!!

Sounds like you have issues with your 'step-father'. Perhaps talking to your mother about it will clear the air.
Also understand that if you mother REALLY thought it was important to see you, she'd put her foot down and tell him to put off the car shopping and take care of tending family FIRST! Her priorities may not be the same as yours now that you're farther away. In short, talk to her about it!

It won't get better till you confront him with it. It's best to sit down right now and make a list of all these things you say are a pattern. Take it up with him when he gets there!

Why cant he deal with what he needs to take care of and you go get your mom?
