People keep trying to compare this to Vietnam. Where are the protests, where is ht music, where is the political and social upheaval from the 60's?

There is no Hendrix, no CSNY, no Joplin... The 60s gave us great music and all they can come up with now is Kanye West "Bush don't care about black people".

Is the left pathetic, or what?

You'll get your concert this summer. Sponsored by Al Gore.
I believe its more relavent to Global Warming, so naturally, there will be many anti-war activists there seeing as one goes along perfectly with the other!

Looked in a mirror lately?

Perhaps people learned after vietnam that protesting didn't really accomplish what they wanted.

Stop watching American Idol. They don't play "political" music.

Maybe ask the dixie chicks. After talking out against Bush, their carrer plumeted. Then they came back with a new album. SWEPT the grammies. Then the Country Music Awards totally shuned them. Not a single nomination. Weird huh?

Ever hear of Eminem?
Green Day?

Please try turning off the government controlled radio.

You are right.. It is pathetic.. and I have no answer as to why we aren't protesting or doing something. It seems as if we are all rather apathetic, just waiting for the next person to do something.
i think one of the problems is that, altho' so many disagree with the war.. we do not want to appear that we are belittling the efforts of our military. During Viet Nam, it all came out as a bash against the soldiers and it was so difficult for them when they came home.. like they were criminals or something. I think maybe that is why we don't see the protest or marches for fear we demoralize the troops.
I don't know, but I really hope our government, who is supposed to cede to our wishes gets the message and soon.

The snivelling ones are planning some sort of bovine excrement protest thingie on March 17th in a whole bunch of locations. Can you believe these bozos are saying things like "Um, well we support the like troops but, um, we, like don't support the, like war and stuff, eh, eh"

They just don't get it. The good thing is that the group known as A Gathering of Eagles will be there to ensure that the other message gets out and is heard around the world, loud and clear. You can find out more about that at

People who ask people what they think all agree that most people oppose this war.

Most people also feel that protests are pointless -- they do have a point, after all, this administration has proved time and time again that they refuse to listen to anyone who disagrees with them.

The left isn't pathetic, it's been disenfranchised.

This isn't the 60's -- it's a different decade.

I think most of those examples had more to do with the culture change then just Vietnam. The entire culture was changing, as well as a war going on. Now, there is only a war. Also, most music today sucks.

Yeah, on the television tube I said human beings throwing shoes. i imagine they were expressing disapproval of British authorities. those who connect a march for peace could properly be eclipsed by technique of human beings that're contained in the march because they are offended and violent. Peace continues to be the right issue to face for. " BBC 24, yahoo information on internet verify it imediately throughout each paper " is amazingly obscure. Even one hotlink to a broadcast article can make your case a lot more suitable compelling.

you obviously don't listen to Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Nas, Common, Sage Francis etc..

These artists are all (besides Nas) concidered underground hip hop artists because they don't support consumerism, and big government like the neo con owners of the record labels do.. So they put more money into acts like 50 Cent, Jay-Z etc.. They think that people are too stupid to understand deep music so they sell the jiggy bling music..

Actually it's the neo cons that are pathetic.. And are ruining our country..

Or are those artists "too black" for you.. Kanye is right.. At least partially Bush doesn't care about POOR Black people.. Rich ones, he's all for.. Especially if they're Christian..

Yah at least in the 60's we got cheap drugs and good music out of the peace movement, now all we get are lame bumper stickers.

You don't understand how controlled the media is. There have been huge protest but never shown on TV (maybe a little c span) unless it's for illegals. HBO just showed that protest they had in NY in 2003. It was huge and lasted into the night. Too bad I had to pay for HBO to see that!
