Is this a good comparrison/contrast between liberals and conservatives. The Bible teaches us to help those in need.

Liberals instinctively look for the government to do this while conservatives look for ways to do this in the private sector and with voluntary help.

I am conservative and I give a lot of my money and time. More than Lieberals? I don't know, but I talk to a guy at work who is a Lieberal and he says he doesn't give to charity because it is government's job. I also give to local shelters, and money to South and Central American countries and African countries. My wife and I volunteer at our church and in the community.

I think a Lieberal thinks they're progressive if they donate to the UNF. I do that too.

That is all fine and dandy, the problem is that there is nobody to watch over the private sector. My sister in law was in an abusive relationship, and ended up in a religious homeless shelter. It was suspectd that the manager stole the food after grocery shopping, and she was such a "good christian" that the higher ups woundt even investigate. They would usually get a half a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of juice for dinner. She had to resort to stealing from the local gas stations, because her oldest child's ribs were showing. They wouldnt let her get a job or food stamps, she was only allowed to attend bible classes for 8+ hours a day while her kids were being "taken care of" elsewhere. There was nowhere else to go. We tried and tried to find someone to report the corruption to...but there ws no one to be found. Please let me know if you find out how to do this. This is the problem with privatizing philanthropy.

It is hard to divide people along these lines. Conservatives funnel money to corrupt churches, democrats funnel money to corrupt government. Its all the same. You cant tell whos giving what by the amount that is reported. The people who are truly making a difference usually arent donating to a charity middle-man. They are in the mess, they pull out of their own wallets give ona n individual basis, without tax incentive, and more importantly are THERE for those in need

I find it interesting How FOX News put a Santa Pot in front of the San Francisco Macy's and used the low donation level as a gold standard of Blue State charity.

You need to be there to understand it.

Macy's faces West in the low December sun you step out of florescent store lighting staring at the sun with a crisp 22 mph wind in your face. The side walk is 50 feet wide with shoulder to shoulder pick pockets and con men.

No one opens their wallet in front of the San Francisco Macy's.

However a block away on every corner of Union Square Santa is doing very good.

The key to this is the FOX News attempt to skew truth. If you are a liar and enjoy lies FOX appeals to you if not then try the BBC or German DWTV as a News source.

Remember the Bible says, they that commit these sins have pleasure with those that do the same. It your a liar then you have pleasure with FOX News.

Go big Red Go

No, conservatives understand that the tax dollar you take from me to funnel through a bureaucracy and give 75 cents to a government hack and 25 cents to some guy who lost his job in the widget factor or showroom, if you'd let me keep that dollar I would have bought a widget, bought the widget company's stock or bonds or deposited it in the bank where teh widget company has a line of credit.

What a bunch of bull! Labels solve nothing and do nothing. People act on their beliefs, liberal or conservative, and to believe that liberals don't volunteer and act on their beliefs is ludicrous! If all conservatives really didn't look to government to solve their problems, we would not be having arguments about abortion and healthcare and raising money for schools and giving money to illegal immigrants and giving sanctuary to illegal immigrants. The conservatives would be collecting the money and supporting all these people at their expense instead of demanding that the government appropriate funds for welfare, healthcare, education, and any other charity. Charity should not be part of the government. Charity belongs in churches, in organizations where they are dedicated to helping the poor and needy. The government should be concerned with ensuring that the laws are obeyed, that punishment for law-breakers is first and foremost, that our borders are protected, that the services that government should provide are provided and so on. How many hours have you volunteered this year? How much of your income have you given to charity? How much do you pay in taxes, real estate taxes, sales taxes, etc.? How much money are you forced to give to people who are not willing to work to support themselves and their children? (Welfare, phone service, medical care, etc.?) How much money do these conservative heads of these large charitable organizations collect in salary and how much do they spend on lavish offices and accomodations? How much of every dollar actually goes to the purpose intended?

I don't give money to anyone (except what I'm required to spend in taxes and government) unless I know exactly how it is going to be spent. I help as many people as I can -- except that I have sworn off helping illegal immigrants because they have proven that their motives are not pure and just! I'll help them into deportation, ICE or jail. I have always fed the hungry. What have you done lately?

That has been shown to be true.

Liberals typically don't trust the private sector to take care of the poor, so they look for it to be mandated by the government.

Conservatives typically believe that the government is ineffective at providing help, especially at the local levels, so they tend to prefer private charity as opposed to government intervention.

The private sector can not be the most efficient way to help people. Because the goal of any business is to maximize profit for its owners. In order to do this half of the private sector screws over people instead of helping them.

I disagree. Liberals look for ways to help those in need. Some favor the use of the government. Some favor the use of private charitable donations.

Conservatives do not help those in need because people in need are just lazy good for nothing shmendricks anyway and don't deserve any help. At least that is what the conservatives tell themselves. In reality, conservatives are just simple, greedy, worthless, and evil.

Not even close. For some deceitful reason , you have chose to use an Urban Legend that people like Hannity and Limbaugh are fond of using.
