Rooseveldt would concentrate on two things - consensus in Congress for a military plan and economic diplomacy (read $$$) with Iran to create another ally to control the insurgent problem. Truman would take the course that would most quickly end the war, no matter what the immediate cost to the life of the enemy, and he would do EVERYTHING it took to support the US Armed Forces.

Those men were leaders with a plan, and both understood how to run a world power.

This is, because of the fact that neither man is alive today, a rhetorical question. Both were instrumental in taking the U.S. through the 2nd World War. Roosevelt was president when Pearl Harbor was bombed and Truman ordered the nuclear strikes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It would seem that neither would shy away from a confrontation. The important idea here is confrontation. Iraq did not attack the U.S. or U.S. territory. The atomic bombs were dropped on an enemy nation to bring about a quick end to a war. This was definitely an escalation, but it was also a very decisive action that brought about an end to a long a terrible war.
Iraq is a front in a war against terror. Terrorism is a criminal act, and the terrorism that befell the U.S. in 2001 was not an attack by a nation.
I think both Roosevelt and Truman would have pursued a course of hunting down those responsible for the attacks, not an endless war in Iraq.
I would go further and say that Eisenhower, Kennedy and Nixon would also not have chosen to invade and occupy Iraq. These were all presidents that were ready and willing, and able to make war, but they would all do so only from a position of high righteous principal

The Media would not have been allowed in the same country as the War, first of all...and if they were they would have been under tight scrutiny...secondly they would have not cared about civilian casualties...they knew that this was a part of war and that you had to hit the enemy where it hurt...and lastly, the New York Times and CNN would be on trial for Treason and releasing of Secret Information...but sadly they were Presidents before the US became so Politically Correct...

They would not be caving in to Liberal appeasement tactics and anti-war whining. They would not care about being politically correct. They would do what needs to be done. and leave the gutless dissenters whine and cry. They would send in thousands of troops and let them do their job of cleaning house as they see fit. This conflict would be won in short order.

They would both quit passing the buck, and immediately pull out of Iraq, and start re-building our militaty and prepare them for protecting our homeland instead of reigning terror on other nations, that never attacked America, as Bush is doing.
