Broadcast television receives electromagnetic radiation (radio waves) in portions of the VHF and UHF spectrum, see the first two references. It sends electromagnetic radiation in the human visual portion of the spectrum; this is what you watch. It sends compression waves (sound) in the human audible portion of the sound spectrum; this is what you hear.

It also sends unintentional electromagnetic radiation as a byproduct of the operation of its electronic circuits.

Televisions don't send any sort of waves. They receive high frequency radio waves, usually in the very high or ultra high waveband.
