Why do people at my school automacially assume when they see my brother and me together, that he is my son? We look so much alike, act alike (he is one) , and sometimes dress alike. On Mondays when my other brothers had karate pratice I would haul him from the high school where their pratice is to the library and the janitor would ask me about my brother and one day told a bus driver that he was my kid.
The yesterday my mom came up to school and he was with me and I went to go get my friend because she had been asking to see him but since it was winter I was hesitant to take him down to her house (I am pretty sure my mom isnt going to go to a thirteen year old's house just to let her see a baby) anyway my friends came up to me and started asking me: "You got a baby?" "When were you pregnant." "I'm calling the police to get that baby, you can't handle one!" and all that crap. Why do they assume this?
Note: My bro is mostly with me when they see him.

My brother has the same problem. There are 3 of us brothers and we have huge age spans (4{Luke}, 12{Pierre}, and 21{David}). When I was 8 [Pierre] and David was 17 my mom had Luke. David and his girlfriend were in a strong relationship so when Luke was born there was a rumor that it he was David's son. Yes David turned 18 the next year and graduated and then took a couple years off school so then he was taking the most care of Luke. Yes we still here that those rumors but polietly ask them to shut up cause its not true. We even got to the point once when my dad showed the birth tape of Luke.

Unfortunately it is a sign of the times. It is not uncommon any more to see a teen aged mother. I have a 15 year old daughter and a nine month old daughter. I lost count of the amount of times that she has been called the mother. I understand that, she gets a kick out of it, what I HATE is when they look at me like I am suppose to be the grandma, I am in my early 30's. People either don't think or are judging how they are perceiving society's youth is turning out. However for your friends to say that to you is crazy. They know better and are just trying to be dramatic.

Because people are stupid, and they assume too much!! They should really just stay out of other peoples business when they REALLY don't know any of the facts! I had the same prob with my little brother... We have a 20yr difference... So when I would take my little bro to the store, or whatnot people would say something towards him being my kid... Also one time I was walking around with my bf, and my little bro at the store, and these two teenage boys made a snide remark," It's called a condom" ... I was soo pissed! I just said, ..."It's called he's my brother!!" Bunch of idiots!

People are going to talk about you no matter what. I believe their doing this because there are a lot of teen mothers out there and well people dont have nothing better to do then run their mouth. Im sorry people do this to you, and you're friends should know better if you were pregnant they would have seen you cause being pregnant is kinda hard to hid esp if you get a big belly on you! Good luck and dont pay any mind to stupid people!

Well, you are probably from an area of the country where it is common to see teen moms.
When people ask if the baby is yours, you can use it as a "teaching moment" to educate people (especially your peers) on your beliefs that having a baby at a young age is not a good idea.

You act like a one year old? If you're acting that immaturely, it isn't exactly a leap to believe that you would have a child at a young age.
How far apart are your ages? If it's about 12-13 years, it can seem like 15-16 in appearance. It's not a stretch to believe a teen has a child.

Its a common misconception. Today there are alot of teenage mothers so people assume you are the mother. Just calmly say no this is my little brother. People will blush and say oh I'm sorry, hes cute anyhow.

With all the teenage pregnancy around, it's not uncommon for people to think that. Some can be pretty judgmental when it comes to that issue. Better not let it get on your nerves, because I'm sure there will be more coming.

Me and my baby sister are 14 years apart and when she was a little baby they use to walk up to the buggy and ay she is beautiful. I would respond, "I am flattered but she isn't mine." They would laugh and walk away. I have brown hair and brown eyes like my dad. My baby sister looks like my mom Blonde hair and blue eyes. My mom was even by the buggy when they would assume she was mine. It would hurt my feelings but that's just how things are.

I've got the same problem. It's not fun at all, but you just have to learn to live with it. The problem is even worse for me becuase it's only the two of us. But I just learned to correct them and not get too upset about it, even though it happens a lot.
