Well you could start with the North of England in the late 60s - Birmingham where Black Sabbath, Judas Preist and Led Zeppelin all came from. Start there. Then move on to the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal or NWOBHM in the 70s and include bands like Samson, Angel Witch, Iron Madien, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy and Def Leppard. Then talk about the blending of Punk with West Coast Californian speed metal in the early 80s and talk about bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and on the East Coast you had Anthrax.
I think if you study these essential bands and time points your talk will be very easy and informative. Go study them, reference songs and bands and band members. Throw in the movies "This Is Spinal Tap" and "The Decline Of Western Civilization - The Metal Years" and you will get a good grade.

Hope I have given you some usefull references. good luck and keep the METAL alive!

when i was on some real heavy drugs in the war, i had the same thing come to me, as you said heavy metal i would say, oxymoron's stuff like lead zeppelin, lead being one of the heaviest metals at the time, then Mercury ELO. and so on an so forth until i finished i wont give you them all but they got their names from the dictionary check it out.
but then i was sent back for rehab and i lost my list.
My suggestion is try and find the names of different groups by checking out the dictionary or a thesaurus its all there just read. now its time for by new-york giant have a nice exam

Start with asking what a lot of people use metal for. You could even use that as an opportunity to engage your audience. Then you can ease into you're presention from there.

I think heavy metal music began when a pop rock musician, slightly tipsy, (ok hammered) accidentally dropped his guitar down a flight of stairs while still plugged in. A heavy acid user heard the commotion and said "Wow man, I like the sound of that ." Thus metal was born.

Find who first used the term and why(who was he describing). Begin your speech "On (date), ________ used the term "heavy metal" to describe ______. A new genre of music was born at that moment and music has never been the same."

start with the rock bands that were influenced by the blues such as blue cheer, cream and jimi hendrix and bands like that. then explain that even though they helped give birth to heavy metal state that it was black sabbath who was the first metal band

Well does it pollute or can you reuse it and not harm the environment?
What is the largest and the smallest thing you can do with it that will help people and the worst thing you can do with it. how's that for a quick start.
