Yes, he needs to work unless you had the agreement that you would be the bread winner and he would stay home to take care of the kids and home. It sounds like you needed more of an income and for him to work as well so I think you did do the right thing. Instead of enabling him to be lazy you are going to make him grow up and be a man or he looses out on his family all together.
Stay strong sister!

If your income isn't enough to support the family then yes he should try to find a job. You said he was taking care of your son, cleaning and cooking.
For the woman that answered saying he was lazy and needed to grow up. Why is it if a man takes care of the home and kids he's lazy and worthless does it also means all the woman who stay home to raise the kids and take care of the house must be lazy and need to grow up.
Maintaining a house is easy add a child and it has become a full time job.
I retired from the military after 20 yrs, my wife worked on and off (mostly off) during that time. Now that I'm retired I take up the slack but she complains because I haven't gone back to work in for 8 months, gee she didn't work for years. My income is still paying the bills. The house was worse when she wasn't working.
People complain about equal rights, it works both ways.

Yes you did. He should be out working to help support the household. The longer he waits the worse he will get. He needs some of that tough love. The longer you stay off of work the more insecure you get when you start thinking about work. You start to think you cannot find anything and then start to feel comfortable in the home. I think you did the right thing.

Yes you did the right thing. If his being at home was not something you both agreed to he needs to find a job. It would be the same thing if it were reversed.

I think you did. If one income isn't enough and he's not willing to help out financially, then yes; he had to go. If he's willing to get a job to take care of his family, then that's different. If he doesn't and nothing changes, then move on and file for divorce.
