No one's "face" is on the nickle, (that would be pretty digusting) but Thomas Jefferson's "image" is on there.
Thanks to the Westward Journey Nickel Seriesâ¢, America's nickel changed for the first time in 66 years! Two new designs took their turns on the back of the nickel in 2004, while the image of President Thomas Jefferson on the front was the same as the image on earlier nickels. But the front of the 2005 and 2006 nickels showed new images of Jefferson as well.
The new designs celebrate two events of about 200 years before: the Louisiana Purchase and the westward journey of Lewis and Clark.
When Thomas Jefferson was President of the United States, he bought a piece of land from France called "Louisiana," an area much larger than the state of Louisiana today...so large, in fact, that buying it made the United States twice as large as it had been before. Since Thomas Jefferson was already on the nickel, it was the perfect coin on which to celebrate the Louisiana Purchase.

Thomas Jefferson (13 April 1743 N.S.-4 July 1826) was the third President of the United States (1801-09), the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776), and one of the most influential Founding Fathers for his promotion of the ideals of Republicanism in the United States. Major events during his presidency include the Louisiana Purchase (1803) and the Lewis and Clark Expedition (1804–1806).

Although most of the people answering this question are from the U. S., I am from Canada--and we too have a nickel. The only person on our nickel is Queen Elizabeth II. We have a beaver on the 'tails' side--very a propos--beaver tail--the beaver is our National emblem along with the maple leaf! Sometimes we have commemorative coins. I believe the most recent commemorative nickel in 2005 had the V for victory--in remembrance of a similar coin which came out during WWII. However, on the 'heads' side the Queen was still present.
So whose face in on the nickel--The Queen.
