This question is not worded well. However, if you are asking why you use cold cabbage leaves on the breasts, it's to reduce swelling and pain sometimes associated with milk "coming in," clogged milk duct, thrush or a woman's breast being over full. It does not dry up your milk.

If you take whole cabbage leaves and put them inside of your bra, directly against you skin, it can definitely relieve the discomfort of drying out your milk and can help speed up the process.
Generally, if you are trying to dry out your milk DO NOT EXPRESS. That will only give your body cues to make more. Wearing a tight fitting bra can also help relieve the pressure. Cold packs work as well.
Milk will not dry up overnight... it can take a couple of days.

The cabbage doesn't dry up your milk, but it makes the soreness in the breasts more tolerable while the milk is drying up. I wean slowly so I can avoid the pain that comes with stopping nursing. It also helps with the pain of engorgement even when you aren't weaning.

Someone told me to put cabbage leaves on my swollen breasts after they became engorged. It was ridiculous! This didn't work at all! Everyone told me not to pump, but it was the ONLY thing that relieved the pressure. There are certain antihistimines that work well to dry out breast milk - ask your doctor.

One of the times when I had mastitis, LLL told me to put cold, rinsed cabbage leaves in my bra for an hour or two. Both LLL and my ob-gyn advised me not to use them for more than a couple of hours because it can dry up your milk. Here are a few links about drying up that liquid gold in your breasts if you are dead-set on denying yourself and your baby the benefits that only you can provide.

The lactation consultant at our hospital told me all it does is help with swelling and inflammation but does not actually dry the milk. She told me to use it for mastitis.

It worked when I was done nursing both my daughters. Helps the pain and for whatever reason helps you stop producing. Just put the cold leaves in your bra and change them every hour or so. good luck
