you could lose weight, but gain muscle at the same time..so dont worry if the scale stays the same or goes up. as long as you look slim right?

You will be losing weight and gaining muscle. yes and it will turn some of your weight into muscle. no it will not go up b/c of muscle. I hope you have a great time at track.

If you are lifting weights or something you'll gain muscle...That would be for a sprinter. If you are just training for distance running then you'll probably lose some weight. But make sure you eat healthy so your body has the enrgy to train. Good Luck-

At 13, I believe you are too young to be thinking along those lines. Have fun. Weight loss is essential. With serious hard training the muscle mass will automatically happen. As you grow older this area will progress.

At 13, I agree with the above guy. Don't worry about. Worry about your performance in practice. Sprinters tend to add more muscle mass through exercise, long distance runners tend to add lean muscle and tend to be skinner (not always true). Muscle is heavier and I wouldn't worry about it one bit. Best of luck!
