I think my computer has a virus, although a scan indicates none. When running netstat, I keep showing a connection with a computer in amsterdam on the ripe network. Is there a way to block this addess or a range of addresses? I already went into the security tab in internet explorer and blocked that IP address, but that didn't work. I am using windows XP home edition.

I think I know the network you're referring to - if so, try a different scan. There's a number of free AV scans out there, and not all of them detect the virus I'm thinking of.

If you've got a firewall, you can put a block on the IPs, and just stop all traffic running both ways. I'm not sure, but I think XP might have a software firewall; check your control panel and look for an option called security settings.

use a firewall. In linux is extra exciting. you could pick in firewall blended with iptables to dam purchasers from mac adress. A mac adress is an adress like a fingertip of a nic. you could replace it whether it won't artwork for ever. So use a firewall and there set the blocked ip. yet whilst the purchasers danger his ip what do you do? So the main suitable way is to dam from ip and mac. So if he transformations his ip and the mac don;t tournament the ip he in simple terms continues to be blocked. If he transformations his mac to boot and you haven't any longer have been given it stored he's blocked to boot. What can he do... test tha lan for mac adresses and use one in each of it... That relies upon on how sensible is the person. you're able to do this in the time of residing house windows..yet i don;t assure a similar effect like in linux. google ;)
