The crazy lady neighbor I frequently mention has broke her hip. She called me and asked if I could grab a few things for her at the store today and I told her no problem..
I did notice her house was pretty nasty, though, when I went for the list.
Should I offer to clean it for her??? Or would that be opening a door to a whole world of neediness that I don't need right now???
Yes, I'm selfish. Get over it.

I'll take my picture down when the rest of the ugliness in the world ends. which is never.
On a side note, I think I figured out who it was that printed my contacts and fans. Thanks.

You are being a nice person, good for you. You could easily get sucked in with too much work of you offer to clean her house, but if you really want to help a little you could offer to do a specific job like take out some garbage for her (which wouldn't be insulting since she probably can't walk down to the trash area anyway, and would help get rid of some junk), or clean her kitchen, or something like that. If she's a "messy" there's not much point in trying to turn her into a clean person, but you might be able to get some trash out of there, which will hopefully keep any bugs or worse minimized.

I would if you have time but be firm if she asks you to do something you don't have time to do. There are very few people in the world who take the time to help others. Be one of the few! I'm sure that if you do this and you say "no" next time she'll know that you really can't because you were there before when you really could. You could even explain starting from now that you won't ALWAYS be able to help.

Don't do it. That will get you taken advantage of quicker than than you know what hit you. Going to the store is kind enough. Let someone else clean her house. If you do, there'll be no end to her "requests."
