When you interview a web designer make sure that they design sites with SEO included. If you are going to build a site for business purposes, make sure to get your own domain name. Its cheaper than you think. Here is a guide to getting started: http://www.richkahmer.com/build-a-website.html

I don't know of a good company to reccommend, but I do know of a great piece of software you can get reasonabally priced that will do everything you'd like as far as building a web site and making it profitable.
