i was due march 25th and tuesday at my last drs. appt. they moved my due date from the 25th to the 15th based on the ultrasound i had at 36 weeks which said i was measuring 38 weeks. could the baby be measuring 38 weeks because hes big or because they have my due date off ? im confused i dont know if i should go by 37 weeks and be due the 25th or if i should go by the 15th and consider myself 39 weeks. im so confused. tuesday at my apt. i was -1 station and 1 1/2 cm dialated and ive already lost my mucous plug so im just waiting. last night i had HORRIBLE pressure in my bottom from him moving down so the baby is probably further down now but i just want others opinion. thanks !

I had the same problem. I either delivered my last son at 37 weeks or 39. I had two periods the month I conceived so they said 37 weeks. I thought the second may have been a heavier than normal implantation bleeding and was really 39 weeks. The ultrasound said 37 but my measurements said 39 so it was really up in the air. It didn't matter though. He was born a healthy eight pounder. If you are worried about if the baby will be born too soon, babies can be born with no complications as early as 34 weeks and 35 weeks is considered very safe 37 weeks is actually considered full term. My twins were born at 34 and only one had any problems - eating- she was home in two weeks.

Go by the ultra sound date. That is how they know how developed the baby is. I have the same problem with changing dates. By period I should be due the 21st of March, but by ultra sound I'm due the 28th, but if nothing happens I'm being induced the 20th. I am too just waiting. Try walking alot. It can actually help with the pressure problem, or take a warm bath. It can actually help with starting/augmenting labor if you are wanting to help out a little bit.

Sometimes they just change your due date based on the baby's size and development.
They changed my due date probably 4 times! At first it was Feb 18th, then Feb 25th, then March 3rd! And now, she's still not here!! So due dates don't always really matter that much!
Good luck though, it sounds like you'll be having your baby soon :)

It doesn't really matter at this point because after 37 wks. you are considered full term and it is safe to deliver baby if you are at -1 station then you are moving towards the right direction and it shouldn't be long before your big day you still have a little ways to go so just sit back and relax, baby is on his way!!! Congratulations

He could be growing faster or he could be right on time and their original date was off. Conception can happen at any time during the month depending on when you ovulate, not on when you have your period. You can walk around 2-3 cm dialated for weeks. I was 80 percent and 3 cm for about two weeks before my son was born. Good luck!

Either date they give you is only an estimate, the baby will come when it wants. By the sounds of it, it may not be too much longer.

um well actually im kind of confussed, its normal for baby's to measure up to 3 cm smaller or bigger, at any time, so i dont know why they would move your due date, unless youve been measuring off the entire time?

At this point, I don't think your due date matters. Sounds like you're pretty close to delivering. And the due date is always an estimate, they can't pinpoint exactly when you're due.
