I am 17 years old and I am gay. I am dating a guy that is 21. My parents hate it and always have. They are very religious and refuse to accept it. Well now they are putting my life on lockdown because of it. So is there anything I can do legally to get away from them that will work quick. I need answers and some serious help before they break us apart. So can someone tell me what I can do to be legally independent quick?

here's the real deal, your parents don't hate you or your man-pal , they are just concerned (aka worried) about the decisions you have made in your life.. at 17 there is a ton of peer pressure you are having to contend with ,,,you know it...they know it....hell i even know it...17 is also the age of rebellion, where kids appear dazed and confused......my advise is to trust i your parents,,listen to there ideas and opinions show them the respect they deserve...try this then notice the change in all of your lives.............as far as your 21 year old "lover" i question your real relation with him....could it be that he is of age to buy alcohol is the real attraction ????? that is what the real problem is.............don't be this "goons" little "stooge or do boy" grow up and be a man ........

I don't say this to condemn. I say it out of concern for you and your relationship with God and your parents.

I don't advise dating someone who's older than you. There are differences in maturity that need to be recognized. I do hope that you know that God loves you, and He wants what's best for you, as I'm sure your parents do as well. If you're engaging in sex with this person, that needs to stop, both for it being illegal, and also bc it is against God's will for you, and if you want to obey God, you need to abstain from sex outside of marriage to a woman. God designed men to complement women, and so being with another man won't help either of you.

May God bless you and give you wisdom.

you can petition the court to have yourself emancipated, although you'll be an adult in a year anyway
