What type of information are you looking for? If its local go to the library and look the person up in their files.

If you have proof she is alive, then why would you want the fund released? Death certificates are public records, though there may be restrictions on obtaining a certified copy, since they are frequently used for fraudulent purposes. You'd need to know the state/county where the certificate might have been issued. You can then call or google the registry information, and typically, you'll need to fill in a request for the copy you want.

well if you just want a date of death and place of death, try the online obituaries.

If you want like cause of death information, I am not sure that is public record, and I do not know of any where where that information is free.

In our law office, when we need such information we must pay for it and have an authorization from the next of kin or administrator.

If she is still "very much alive," what do you need with her burial fund?!?
