Well I was not trying to be judgemental. I thought that in America most were exposed to cultural differences. I dont know very much about the jewish traditions, but I do know that they exist. But I guess I havent lived in real rural areas..it just seemed odd in todays times. thanks everyone!

There are Jews everywhere. It's also spelled "bat mitzvah."

I know quite a lot of people in Connecticut who had never even heard of a bar/bat mitzvah--usually the Italians. Reason for that--they still live in their own small enclaves around here.

It's interesting isn't it?

There was an article in the USA Today Thursday edition asshole, and it basically stated that our religious education is severely lacking in our country.

So if there is a lack of knowledge, thank the liberals. Again.

Some people don't grow up with a lot of exposure to other cultures. It doesn't make them bad or racist. It's simply a lack of knowledge.

You'd be surprised how much you don't know.

you cannot assume that everyone knows what you know. how did you learn? because you were not born with knowledge. try to educate rather than judge. you mean bar mitvah?
