when a monkey knows that his best shot at food/a mate is across some water...he does what he can

in general no, the monkey is unable to swim..however there have been sightings of some monkeys swimming to shore in some far away countries when they were in harms way. This is extremely rare though.

The Sloth can swim when he/ she has to.
The amazion floods every year and the sloth dose his/her own freestyle

I also saw little water monkey in tasman and they swim.

i guess it depends on the type of monkey but i don't know about all types
