for some reason I flashed back to my youth and thought you meant Captain Planet (and the Planeteers).. and I was going to be like "Nothing!! I never liked that cartoon!"... but as for Captain America I'd say people appreciate him as an American Icon.. ... ... Much like Superman, Spider Man and all of the other comic book heroes, they embrace the values of the time... themes that are present threw all of our history.. yet at the same time they still are very human.. facing many of the same problems you and I face... it has nothing to do with what he wears.

The big flag emblazened on his chest and the shield he uses to fend off those who attack the liberties of ALL Americans (not just the ones he likes personally).

I don't know about liberals but I'm a superman kind of guy. Your probably thinking of Captain Planet though. Captian America seems more conservative to me.
