yes girls that get kidnapped and forced into prostitution, undocumented workers in a way, because many times they are not able to defend themselves. These two are true here in the U.S. , in other countries there are many different types of slavery still exist in the year 2007, I guess we have a long way to go.

The newspapers still report slavery in other countries as well as household slavery and sexual slavery in the US. However, not to be provoking, but women taking their husband's surnames upon marriage comes from that mindset of being property, even though women can choose one way or the other today, so it is certainly no longer slavery.

have you seen the movie Blood Diamond. a very good movie, you should see it if you haven't. little kids are being kidnapped from their families and forced to shoot and kill, just the way they were kidnapped from their own home. a horrible circle.
also, parents selling their kids thinking it would give them a better life, and the kids become slaves to fishermen. A lot of slavery goes on in Africa mostly b/c it is a very poor country. This happens in all poor countries, Philippians, china. Slavery will always be around.

Servitude exists in all forms today in many places in the world. Actual slavery-like conditions is widely known among sex workers, in the US and abroad, and in factories that pay workers minimum pay and keep them tied to the poor job.

in the US, its the huge number of black men imprisoned. They have committed felonies and are serving time. They can never vote again due to having commited a felony.
This alone is a form of slavery.
