A person may have many loves in their lifetime but only one true love at a time. The concept of true love may never exist also. Setting your sites too high will lead to heartbreak and disappointment. There are many spinsters out there looking for their knight on the white horse that never arrives.

No, not one true love, because wouldn't that mean there is one absolutely perfect person for me out there? And there's almost 7 billion people out there, how the heck would I find him?
And, the big problem would be, that even though I am totally and truly in love with my boyfriend, and plan to be with him for the rest of my life, that just because he has some characteristics that don't fit me, he's not my "true love."
Unleeeesssss...I psychologically NEED to be irritated occasionally, then my "true love" WOULD be him...okay, I have to think about this!

I think you can love many different people in your lifetime. One dictionary lists the definition of love as: "a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend. " To me, that says you can feel love for anyone, no limits. This dictionary also lists the definition of true as: "firm in allegiance; loyal; faithful; steadfast." In my eyes, if you combine the two, you can only have true love. A true love is someone you develop feelings of love for, but never goes away. Whether it's a grade school, high school, mid-life love, if years later it's still there, you still think about him/her, the love you feel for other people doesn't compare, well that's true love. I am 24, I have loved tons of guys, but my current boyfriend, we've been together two years, we've broken up over this time. I have met other guys, felt love for them, but nothing compares to how I feel about him. I can't stay away from him long at all. I know I may have loved a hundred guys before him and may love a hundred after, but nothing has or could ever compare to what I feel for him. SO to answer your question, I believe you can love numerous people, but true love? That's meant for you and one person, that's it.

I believe that true love is not limited to just one person. The man I am married to is the love of my life but who knows what the future holds. If something should happen to me, I would hope he would find another love with whom to spend his remaining years.

The second one. But it depends on your personality. For some people they have enough love for one person to last a lifetime. The rest of us get bored a little quicker. But it's not a bad thing.

I believe in loving wholly and often. I believe a desperate search for that one true and perfect love is an exercise in futility, and is a way to set oneself up for severe disappointment and heartache because it's unreasonable to expect another to live up to such high standards.

I think that there is only one true love for us out there. It just takes weeding out the false alarms before finding the winner.
