Do I need a certain wrench or socket? Or is there a universal tool for removing the wheel nuts?

There is everything you need in a compartment in the trunk, like a jack, to be used in specific slots, the wrench for removing the lug nuts etc. When you jack it up, just do it far enough to get the wheel off, & the wheel back on after repairing the flat, or whatever you need to do. Make sure the parking brake is on before you jack it up, then it won't move, & don't do it at an incline, because the car could end up at the bottom of that incline.

Remember safety when Jacking a car off of the ground, Block your wheels, loosen the wheel nuts *slightly* Before you get it off of the ground, as it is easier that way, the wheel doesn't turn yet.

When reinstalling tighten one, then every second nut, around in a circle, on a five Bolt wheel.

Be very careful if, while the car is off of the ground, you need to open any of the car doors, as that can easily unbalance a jacked up car, especially two door cars Bigger-heavier doors.

Most auto supply stores sell an "X" shaped lug wrench that has four different sized sockets on it. They work with most cars. You also need a jack and something to pry off the hubcaps if your car has them.

If you are asking then the only tools you will need are a Cell phone and AAA road side assistance.
