Do you mean METAL detector?
Normal? No. They are quite expensive. If you needed one anyway, for whatever reason, it would probably be gone the next day...it would make it worthwhile for the thieves.

That could be normal if you lived in something like the hardcore ghetto, but if not, I would say that is not normal to have in a home.

what is a medical detector? sounds like something out of star trek. so if someone has a disease they aren't allowed inside? sounds mean.

I don't know what normal is in these circumstances, but I would say its rare. There's nothing illegal about it and heck it might even be a good idea.
