If the bite is from an insect, then blood poisoning is possible, but not very likely. Blood poisoning is a bacterial infection of the bloodstream. Its extremely unusual for someone to get a severe bacterial infection within two days of an insect bite. You don't describe the bite, but I am guessing that you got bit by spider or other poisonous insect, and the pain and redness is from a toxin. If you develop a fever, chills, or feel sick, then you probably should see a doctor since these symptoms occur with blood poisoning and more serious insect or spider bites.

Blood Poisoning Rash

I had blood poisoning twice. Once when bitten by a cat (ended up with Cat Scratch Fever, yeah, its a real disease, "Way to go George Thorogood"). And oncefrom stepping on a rusty nail. Both times my symptoms were a sever cherry red discoloration around the affected area. It was extremely sensative to touch, itched, and I had the tell-tale red track lines leading away from the bite area towards my torso. The track lines are a dead giveaway in determining blood poisoning.

Above all else:

Go See A Doctor! Blood poisoning is a SERIOUS thing, but it is treatable.

Hope you get better! cheers!
