my husband and I met in college (1 was 21, he was 20) We dated for almost 3 years before we were engaged. Our engagement lasted for about 16 months. We have been together for over 17 years. This September will be our 13 year anniversary. We were still in school and I graduated from college just before we got married. If he is your life partner, it will happen!
We are so happy! We waited almost 7 years after marriage to have our 1st kid so we had plenty of time together. We just had baby #2 just after 12 years of marriage!!!!!

Enjoy life ! Take it one day at a time! Do you KNOW he is the one? When you talk of the future, is he in your world? Has he expressed the same thing? How old is he? I think some guys just take it slow when it comes to the whole marriage thing. After all, you want someone who will cherish you and be with you forever, so its good to take it slow!

the best part about knowing your b/f for all those years and eventually when you marry :THe sex just gets BETTER and better when you have a partner that knows your mind, body and heart. I knew I loved him 17 years ago, but to see him with our kids and holding our children in his arms, makes me love him even more and tell so proud to have him as my husband!

I wish the best for you and your b/f.

Must be careful with that...BF is great..as long as you are not living together...and doing everything as married couple...A actually nothing is wrong with that if you do not want to get married. If marriage is on your mind you must be careful to keep a fine line distance as you must always remember "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" and you are not a cow...so 2 1/2 years is a good long time...you should know by now where you stand and what is your future plans and if it includes marriage or not...

We were engaged for a bit over a year. But we were together for a total of five years before we got married. It's going to be 27 years of marriage this July. Some rough times? Sure. But it works if you make it work.

We dated in High School, for about 1 1/2 yrs and then about 4 yrs later I told him either we get married or I'm going back to my mother's house, because he is wasting my time. Go or get off the pot. So we got married on Feb. 14 1977, and we are still married and times have been rough and tumble and meek and humble. Hey, the Reverend said "for better or worse" and we have had both. I don't suggest you wait that long but if it is going on to 2yrs, tell him to stop wasting your time and using up all of your best years and "Go or Get Off the Pot" so to speak.
Also, when you get married "Never Yell at each other unless the house is on fire" :)

I dated my husband for 6 months then were engaged for 1 year. We have been married for 2 years and we have never been happier. And to let you know my husband and I were 19 when we got married. He is going to college and we are buying a house already. I hope this helps you.
