George Bush consistently refers to Tony Blair as `Princess`; I guess, making some snide ref about Blair`s good looks.

More of a fuss was made over Lennon`s death (okay, an assassination) than Abbie Hoffman`s (who also died young and of putatitve natural causes- altho it is anyone`s guess how natural)

And the furore surrounding the death of Marilyn Monroe continues without abatement.

So what`s the answer?

Do good looks help?

Good looks help, but only so far.

As to John Lennon/ Abbie Hoffman, I would choose a better example, as assassination always brings with it a greater sympathy

Why would good looks help? Bush probably refers to Blair as Princess because he's a big girl!!!

I think fame more than looks has to do with how peoples deaths are talked about for years afterwards.

I think good looks help when you try to get a job for example or maybe when an actor goes for an audition. The better looking person will be leave a lasting impression and will obviously get further in life. Heres a few examples, Jennifer Lopes, Ben Affleck, Tom cruise, Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias.... Need I say more?

No, but media obsession sure does. Your examples are all wrong. Bush calls Blair Princess not because of his looks, but because of his "secondary" position to the Queen. John lennon was loved by all not for his looks but for his talent, political views, and love. Marilyn slept with JFK, boinked RFK, married Joe DiMaggio AND Arthur Miller and was in the limelight her whole life. The media was obsessed with her because she did all those things and more, and was a sexpot in a time when there were very few.

Good looks are an outward, easy to spot, sign that you PROBABLY have good genes. Hence anyone with good looks automatically has a head start on the average Joe.

Good Jeans on the other hand are a sign of good style, and good style can compensate somewhat for average looks.

Unfortunately, in this world at least, a beautiful person in a scruff is still more likely to succeed than a butt ugly in a suit.

Sorry ....

Unfortunately, yes. It has led many men and women into making the wrong choices. Many people who are dumb, disobedient, ignorant or even insane, have been accepted just because of their good looks, and have led many to their destruction.
A person's good looks are a first impression ; many have made a fortune by good looks ; and there are many people who are good-looking, as well as very good in character, very good life's companions.
However, do not go around just judging people on looks alone. DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.
Remember: Beauty is only skin deep.

Human nature can make you want to look. Kinda like once you're driving down the line and also you spot a lifeless animal on the line, no count number number how a lot you tell your self "do not look" only once you get upon it you look.

No, I'm gorgious and it hasn't helped me at all. Who could resist a man several stones overweight who's chest is heading past his waist and who's **** is past his knees????

Maybe if my beard was tidied up a bit it might help. There;s the answer then, good looks don't help but a tidy beard does.

of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but when a gargantuos amount of people find somebody very attractive, they reap many benefits during and after life.
