I am 10 weeks pregnant (or so I thought). Yesterday i went to the ob/gyn and he said my uterus felt closer to 12 weeks along. I am 100% sure about when my last period was and even 100% sure about the date we conceived, so I know there cannot be an error in the dates. I am not getting an ultrasound until 03/16 but until then I am freaking out that it could be twins. The doctor said this is only one of several reasons why I could be measuring larger, but I am wondering if anyone else ever had this same situation, and if so, how did it turn out? By the way, twins dont run in my family or my husbands.

I would also like to add that the dr just heard one heartbeat, and I have not really had any morning sickness, a little dizziness, but no vomiting.

first, twins don't have to run in a family. they occur in the entire population.

your doctor is right, twins is only one possibility. Babies grow at various rates. Maybe yours is growing faster in the beginning. Diet, exercise, parent's sleep schedule, etc. etc. etc. have an effect. That's why they do the ultrasound!

Until then ... RELAX!!! And just look on the bright side, if it's twins...that's two birds and one stone!!! :)

It would be a bigger difference then only 2 weeks. I was 4 weeks and measured 9 weeks. I am now 33 weeks and I am measuring 45 weeks. Another sign may be morning sickness that makes you feel like you are dying. More or less all the signs of being pregnant doubled. I never really had MS with my other 3 pregnancies but with this one it was horrible. Twins dont run in our families either WELL I guess they do now!!! Good Luck!!

Quick genetics lesson. Only fraternal twins are genetically linked (even then, it would only matter the family history on the mother's side). Identical twins are pure luck and have nothing to do with a family history.

The uterus measuring larger than could be a number of things, and yes, twins is one of them.

Unless you were tracking ovulation at the time of conception, you can't know for sure when you ovulated. Also, sperm can live a couple of days inside of you, so it could put conception off a couple days. So, there are a lot of things to consider. No use in stressing out before you know for certain. Your ultrasound will let you know. Best of luck.

Is this your first pregnancy?

I had the exact same thing happen to me but twins do run in my family. My sisters are fraternal twins and this was my 5th pregnancy. The likelihood of twins is higher with each subsequent pregnancy. So I was at a very high likelihood but it was just one! I have a large uterus is what they decided. I had a c-section and that's what's partially stretched it because the uterus can't shrink completely down from the scar tissue. Good luck!

Many women go to the doctor and find out that their due date is off, It is very common. I was 2 weeks less pregnant than they thought. It can go both ways. The girl I work for had her baby today and she was measuring at 41 weeks a week ago. If your last period was a funny period maybe you were actually pregnant then? Its normal :) Don't worry
No, I don't think its twins

well hold on until u have ur ultrasound. u actually may be surprised and be farther along then u think. My sister is preg with twins and i remember around 10 weeks her telling me she had a feeling it was twins. I was like; yea right!!!LOL Come to find out.... She was right! Just wait for ur ultrasound and u will find out then what is going on. U never know... u may have twins that run in ur family centurys back and u are the lucky one to have them now. Either that or u are farther along. I am preg with my 3rd and am showing 3 weeks farther then my dates, I KNOW im not preg with twins but i could be farther along as well or just showing larger. good luck to u and God Bless

I am almost 8 weeks pregnant and ever since I found out my youngest sister kept joking saying that I was having twins. Well I am already starting to show, and I didnt this early with my daughter and my sister is still saying it. I cant wait to get an unltrasound or go to the doctor and make sure there is just one. Good luck

If your doctor said that's a possibility, then it's a possibility, but there are other things that could be causing it as well (as he also said). This really isn't worth getting worked up about until you know for sure. The ultrasound is in a week, so until then, you need to relax. You won't know anything for sure until then anyway.

Be prepared for anything!!!! Good or bad. Twins, I think would be fun. Out of 7 kids my mom had only one set of twins. A boy and a Girl I think if they were the same sex it would be more fun! Good Luck and I will pray for a healthy child

Did he say anything about your blood test and hormone level? They can usually tell if your levels are very high it is a good indication it is twins. For the record..Fraternal twins run on woman's side Identical twins are random and not hereditary.
