Here is something i got from a friend when i turned 21.. hope it helps...It's long but worth reading..so hopefully and others out there will read the entire msg...
"Being Twenty-Something"
They call it the "Quarter-life Crisis."
It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many things about yourself that you didn't know and may not like.
You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.
You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met, and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you don't recognize is that they are realizing that too, and aren't really cold, catty, mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.
You look at your job... and it is not even close to what you thought you would be doing, or maybe you are looking for a job and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and that scares you.
Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and are constantly adding things to your list of what is acceptable and what isn't. One minute, you are insecure and then the next, secure.
You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.
You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you. Or you lie in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough that you want to get to know better. Perhaps you love someone who doesn't love you back, or worse yet, loves someone else. Or maybe you love someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you know that you aren't a bad person.
One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap.
Getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic.
You go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision.
You worry about loans, money, the future and making a life for
yourself... and while winning the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender!
What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.
Send this to your twenty something friends.... maybe it will help someone
feel like they aren't alone in their state of confusion.....
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!!!!!

I am almost 21 myself and I know what you are saying. For me adulthood kicking in is scary because I know that I only get older. The thing that I do is try to forget that I am 20 years old.

It's a brand new stage now. The roles available to you are not similar to the ones from before. You aged out. Now the menu of life is unfolded before you, and you have to pick just one or two from the menu. That is hard. You're in a brand new learning curve. Difficulty in an infant's learning to walk is similar to gaining your "adult legs" but now the learning is more conscious. Hold your own, make your own choices, climb the new ladder, and as you do, an elevator or escalator will appear from time to time to help you.

enable me percentage something with you. I used to imagine to myself.... after I particularly have this one issue or maybe as i'm able to attempt this or that my existence will be suitable and that i will particularly feel free. yet existence is unlike that. you are able to attain all of those aims or receive all of those issues and nonetheless no longer be chuffed. the perfect moments in existence have come from the straightforward little familiar stuff....a buddy inviting me out to lunch or doing a web page in my artwork mag and the pride featuring it. existence is short. we are able to discover exhilaration contained in the straightforward issues if we are only open to it. P.S. I used to experience an identical way you do about others whose lives looked more suitable 'heading in the right direction' than mine. in case you dig a touch deeper you'll understand issues are not continuously what they look. truly some the those that I envied the most and concept had close to suitable lives grew to develop into out to be very unhappy human beings.

It is not silly and it is something that most people feel at your age.It is scary to make that transition from adolescent to adult.Just try to find interesting things to make you feel happy, and keep away from vices and negative people.Educate yourself about different topics and find yourself a good hobby.I cannot underestimate the value of excersise..it has helped me feel good about myself when sometimes I don't.Good luck and don't forget it WILL get better.

I'm 21 and just realizing that majority of people in my community are getting dumb with age. The love of knowledge seems dead in our society and recycled knowledge is a crappy replacement.

I wanted to die on my 30th birthday, but what I did not realise is that is when life really begins. As long as you hold onto your morals and principles, you go for it!!! Enjoy life, it is there for the taking.
