with a real serious look on his face. And his girlsfriend is sitting there looking all Barbie meets LL Bean, and she says, "And I don't, and we want to keep it that way."

Then they go on to talk about genital herpes like it was some kind of normal heterosexual thing that couples in love can experience together. And they do it like its no big deal in the srtraight community. Every time I see this thing I want to punch out the guy and slap some sense into stupid broad.

Are heteros really so stupid they have to have moronic actors tell them this sort of information? This is as bad as the stte of Virginia putting up billboards to remind men not to have sex with underaged girls.

And yet the sanctity of marriage and the focus on the family is tantamount in the US while the LGBT community is vilified.

Does anyone else see the irony of just what the hell is going on out there? Where is the outrage?

I'll be honest...I haven't seen this commercial. From what's been said, though, it just reinforces what America is willing to accept. The implication that this couple is engaging in premarital sex despite one of them having this condition is OKAY because eventually the condom will break and the girl will become pregnant. The couple then will decide whether to get married for the sake of the child, have the child and put it up for adoption, or terminate the pregnancy. Welcome to Middle America.

Meanwhile, the Mars Co. is making Snickers ads that reinforces America's opinion on two men kissing, albeit accidentally.

This is why there is GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), a media watchgroup that brings people, networks, companies, and others to task for negative portrayals of the GLBT community. I support this group as much as I can because until we get such images and "truth in advertising" to be more commonplace we will continue to be thwarted in our efforts for equal rights.

Yeah I know what you mean. I always wanted to one of those commercials because I can just imagine how much I'd get paid to say, "Oh yes I do have genital herpes but life isn't over is it Hunny?" Lady says, "No dear" I say, "That's why I take this pill and smear all of this crap over my junk." In front of a park full of children playing in the playground.

Its all about the money man. Biggest drug dealers in the world are the pharmaceutical companies

I find that commercial creepy. Pretty much EVERY drug commercial is weird and unsettling, especially when they rattle off side effects at top speed, and it still takes longer than the actual "meat" of the commercial. My wife and I came up with the theory that he got herpes from a truck stop glory hole.

The outrage seems to be within you. I haven't seen the ad but perhaps everybody needs to be reminded about sexual health matters no matter what their personal preferences. Look at it objectively - It's only a drug company trying to sell as much of their product as possible and targetting the widest audience. Chill out!!!

I see those 'intimate' product commercials, and I always think:

"Hey mom! You said I'd never amount to anything! Look, I finally made my TV debut!"

I think that you may be reading too much into this. I think that the reason they have the man and woman be so direct is that they can see that normal people have this problem. Also, the fact that normal people are taking steps to prevent the outbreaks. The actors are relate-able.

What I think is, "How desperate for money this guy must be to label himself as suffering from this condition in front of the whole world." I think true or not it would have to put a crimp in his dating prospects.
