Can anyone tell me how they make "aahh" sound in background of songs?

like the one in "heal the world" . "there are (aaahh..) people dying".. is there any Software to create this sound..other than having a chorus in background...please help

most times if it's a human voice, the background singers are recorded seperate and then the producer uses a mixing board to lay the tracks together.

If it's more of a instrument sound, the same process is used, but they record the sound from the instruments instead of the voice and then lay it in the same way.
