Here is the deal with "whatchu talkin' bout" Willis. He has all the tools to be a top 3 RB in the NFL. The problem is he is lazy. The Buffalo News took a quote from a Buffalo Bills coach who wished to remain anonymous. He stated that McGahee "didn't want to learn the playbook" and also "had to have someone on the coaching staff explain the plays to him while he was in the huddle". He also went on to say that McGahee didn't want to block and didn't know his assignments most of the time. Now, these were comments that were made while he was still a member of the Buffalo Bills.
All I know is that if you look at his stats, he avgs. close to 1000 yds a season a 8 TDs. If you look at his career numbers however, you will note that he had his best season while Travis Henry was still on the team. The last two years have been avg. 11 TDs in two seasons as a starter. 46 catches out of the backfield in two seaons(68 in all three) doesn't get me excited either. It shows me that he isn't all he's cracked up to be. this is on a team that has had no TE since the Super Bowl era of the early 90's.
Numbers aside, the guy is a wast product. He has almost as many children out of wedlock, as he does touchdowns per year. This is also the guy who was said to be the best RB in the league. Don't believe it, just ask him. He aslo thinks that the Bills would be better suited to move to Toronto, because" there ain't nothin' to do in Buffalo".
I know what you can do a**hole...how about studying your playbook, so when you what more money, or you want to criticize the team or the city, you won't be laughed at by the entire league. Score more that 6 TD's on a team that used you 98% of the time(unless, you fell down and were slow to get up, which happened about 8 times per game last season)
I love what Ozzie said about him when the Ravens declared that he was coming over in a trade...
"This is a runner who can make people miss and has the explosion and speed to take it the distance," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "He also has the power and size to run inside. He's a viable receiver out of the backfield and is a good pass blocker, not something every back can do."
That is pretty high praise for a guy who has done NONE of the things he just described. But when you have a 2000 yrd. rusher one year and the next year he is helping his buddy sell coke at Denny's ...I guess that Willis is looking pretty damn good right about now.
I haven't even touched on the scum bag who is representing him. Drew Rosenhaus is probably the biggest a**hole that has walked the earth. This is a guy who stages a fake rescue of a small child near a hotel swimming pool, just to make him self look good in the eyes of the media. He is by far the worst agent to ever walk the earth. This is another factor in the Bills shipping this guy out to Baltimore. I don't think they could have re-signed him even if they wanted to.
All in all, I think that both sides make out....for now. The Bills get a third and seventh round pick this year and a third next year....not too bad, but time will tell if they get anything worthwhile(other than the monkey off their back)
Baltimore saves face after losing their all-time leading rusher to a divisional foe in the Browns(who are looking for anyone to carry the rock this year)
Who knows, maybe willis will clean up his act and learn to block. The Ravens line is an upgrade(slightly) from Buffalo's, and they are commited to grind the ball 20-25 times agame. the difference is that Mike Anderson and Musa Smith are waiting in the wings and that is something Willis never really had to contend with since he was a rookie and Travis Henry was the primary ball carrier.
Maybe the influence of U of Miami ulums Ray(the Knife) Lewis and Ed Reed will have a positive impact on McGahee, but I doubt it. I hope he enjoys his time playing in the Beltway better than he did in the Queen city, other wise Raven fan, you will be hearing a lot of garbage coming out of this underacheivers mouth.
My last point is an important one. Steve McNair is in my opinion a fine football player and a pretty solid citizen. He is also injury prone. Say what you want about Jamal, but I think he protected McNair prety well when he was in town. Wait until Willis lays down and someone on the Bengals or Steelers D-Line gets a good lick on McNair. I hate think what will happen when you have to rely on Kyle Boller for the rest of the season.

It was a good deal for the Ravens, they already locked him up for the next 6 years. The Ravens OLine is much better than the Bills. The Ravens have an overall better group of offensive players than the Bills, so he wont be the only person the defense is trying to stop when they step out on the field. I look for McGahee to have a big year. And other than the two incidents with Jamal and Ray which both happened like 7 years ago , the Ravens havent really had many off the field problems. They always get the best out of their players on the field and most of their players are well disciplined off the field. I would have rather had them give up only two picks for him though but I think he will prove he was worth more than what they gave up for him.

It was huge for the Ravens to land him as Lewis has not been the same since his jail stint. The only problem I see with it is that they gave up next year's third round draft choice for him and Willis only has one year left on his contract.
That will make it virtually impossible for the Ravens to re-sign him without over paying and locking up cap space for the next 3-4 years. The leverage is in McGahee's court for the negotiations and he could dip into the Free Agent Market next year if he has a huge season like a suspect he will and the Ravens don't have the cap room with their expensive Defense. This can be very scary if your a Ravens Fan on how much they end up investing in this player.
Buffalo was looking at the contract and what he would be expecting after another year, that is why he is gone. Still, the bills have lost too much this year and other than strengthening their O-Line it will be yet another rebuilding year for that team

Who did the Bills have backing up McGahee? Willis is a proven warrior going back to college. Lewis is done...he played with no passion last year. McGahee is far and away more hungry and will take full advantage of the great field position the Ravens defense should give him. The Bills have way too many question marks and their future is murky. Regarding his lack of playbook knowledge, most RB's are not Rhodes scholars...the guy caught passes out of the back field, so once he was told what to do, he did it...it's not uncommon for guys to help each other...they know who has the smarts and who doesn't but they also know who can ball and that's McGahee. And I'm a fan of another team in the Bills division and I admit he has skills!

Yea, i dont know, I might agree with the asker on this one...I mean sure, McGahee has rushed for a 1,000+ in 2 of his first 3 years, but 1000 really shouldnt equal all the money he is getting paid. I couldnt believe the amount they gave for him. Two picks in a relatively deep draft, and 30+ million dollars....jesus, he aint THAT great. They shoulda went after thomas jones if they were looking to drop that much. i would rather him than mcgahee. I think his knee is still a question mark. He only got what he did because of super agent Drew Rosenhaus. If Fred Taylor can get a 4 year extension worth about 5 mill a year, I guess Rosenhaus could work some magic here too. Maybe with Reed and Lewis helping him out, he'll do alright, but I look for the three of them to get arrested at least once together before the first season is out. Congrats to McGahee and Rosenhaus...those guys are getting Paid!!!

McGahee is a huge talent, but he is a selfish head case. He will be a good addition for about a year or two. Then his true colors will show again. The Ravens have about a two year window to win another championship. They should be able to get a maximum effort out of McGahee during that time.

I definitely think that it was a good move for the Ravens, but it's not so good for the Bills. I thought that he was a 1 year wonder until this past year, when he annihilated the Jaguars. Good move for the Ravens landing a solid tailback with some speed.

I think that Jamal Lewis is a better back then McGahee. He hasn't really done anything worth talking about since being drafted from Miami. Hopefully it will turn out good for both of them at their new teams
