I am 7 weeks pregnant with my second child, and my husband and I are in firm agreement that this will be our last.

I will need to discuss this with my doctor at my 8 week appointment on Tuesday.

How much recovery is required afterwards?
Is it painful?

I dont know how old u are but mant things could happen and would cause u to want more children,u never know it happened to me im 29 and wanting more so i just had a tubal reversal 6,000 later and i may or may not have a chance of concieving ,there are so many reasons why u should not make this disission while ur preggo trust me its a big mistake get a form of birth control instead its easier to reverse......and tying ur tubes can cause lots of problems health wise too....the doctor wont advise u of this at least mine diddnt..i hope i helped some...email me if not..

If you have a c-section, the doc can tie your tubes right then. If you are having a vaginal delivery, you will have to wait at least 6 weeks, maybe longer to have it done and it is major surgery. What about your hubby having a vasectomy? It is much less invasive, cheaper, and hardly any recovery time. If you and him have decided no more kids, then check into the best option for both of you and stick with your decision. Also, I believe that recovery time for a tubal after a vaginal delivery is similar to a c-section recovery time, several weeks. I had my tubes tied after my 4th c-section and I was in a little more pain in the hospital, but it did not affect my recovery time at home.

I don't think it causes anything worse physically probably if anything it would be emotional. I have heard that right after delivery is not the best time to do something like this, simply because pregnancy and delivery have so much to do with hormones. I know it seems like the perfect time, but many Dr's say wait until you are over the pregnancy and recovered then make the choice. Also there are less long term risks with a man getting a V than the women getting her tubes tied. I am sure you know what you want, but make sure you really do your research (on all options) before you make a FINAL choice. Good luck with everything.....:o)

I had mine tied during a c-section, but it didn't cause any extra pain. You should be fine by the time you go to your 6 week check up afterwards.
