Quebec is entering an election year and so all the politicians are starting to make promises they will never keep to their consituents. You can probably see the major concerns of the people in Quebec by the subjects being raised in this election.

From what I see the big issues are:

- Immigration policies (tensions rising over ethnic minorities and their effect on existing Quebec society)
- Infrastructure (deteriorating roads, bridges collapsing, water mains bursting, water quality).
- Environmental issues (everyone trying to protect the natural resources and be "green")
- Quality of life (wait times at hospitals, shortage of doctors and nurses, etc)
- Taxes and how much money the province gets back from the federal government.

And as usual, there is always the talk of separation from the rest of Canada to try and build Quebec into a better society by isolationism. You look at cities and even countries that are promoting the merging of resources to try and be stronger...here in Quebec the thought is we can break things apart and be better...forty years after Rene Levesque came to fame and it is still a sore issue on both sides of the fence.
