I think putting an additional tax on foods containing high levels of trans fats would be an idea.
We should be able to capitalize on people who make unhealthy choices, that and we need a means of paying for all the medicaid and excess medicare charges caused by those with self inflicted health issues due to obesity.
Smokes and alcohol are taxed like crazy, it just stands to reason high fat foods would be too. It is estimated that obesity will surpass smoking as a cause of death by 2050.
Some countries already have tax breaks and incentives for those living a healthier life style. This year I wrote of my gym membership.

Well why not tax all the addicted as well - obseity is as a result of food addiction - nobody wants to be obsece - run away appetite or loss of the full feeling is the problem. Taxing fat people will just increase the tax yield, it won't lower the national average waist line.

Hahaha, that is funny, don't be surprised if that comes out in the future. Im sure there is some politician right now thinking on how they could pull it off. Im thinking they will prob add a tax to fast foods and regulate the taxes like they do on cigarette products. I forsee the $1 value deals going up to $2.

Too many people on here are giving the government ideas on what to tax next..
A fat tax would never be brought in..unless John Prescott can claim it back in his expenses.

I think it will take more than higher taxes to make people lose weight.
We'd just have a bunch of fat poor people.

No, because income tax is unconstitutional. Also, what gives you the right to tax someone for a flaw. What will you think of next, "oh, lets tax minorities because I said so".
