I just purchased a brand new laptop. (vista, laptop has wifi capability)

I want to use as LITTLE wires as humanly possible.

In my home, there is my aunts computer (desktop) and my laptop in my room.

Is there such a thing we can purchase, that will give us BOTH wireless access to the internet? And we want to get rid of my current cable MODEM and ROUTER and purchase one that has both???

Also, we CAN use the same setup to print from one printer wirelessly? (hp photosmart2710 has wifi capability)

I thank you very much in advance for your help!!

Some Cable Modems have a built in wireless router. Motorola makes on as do other vendors.

(You can get on for a lot less than list)

A desk top can easily be converted to wireless as well. Just get a wireless card. SEE: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=136479

With a wireless network, if your printer has wifi capability, it can be used wirelessly from the network.

For secure networking you will have to configure the modem and computers and printer with the same WEP key.

Yes, but you may have to pay more for it. The cable modem and separate wireless router combination is actually a better way to go because if ONE part of the combination goes out, you only have to replace the one unit. In addition, it allows you to upgrade later, without having to replace a "combo" unit.

Yes it is called a gateway, which is exactly what you are looking for. Linksys among others has a few available. They normally cost around 100-150 dollars.
