1. can a pregnancy test detect the hcg hormone even if you have had an early miscarriage, like 3 days before taking the test?

2. how do you know you have had an early miscarriage? I had a bit of bleeding right after having sex around the time my period would come. it completely ceased (i actually thought it was my period) I had been having all the symptoms from a coming period (bloating, cramps, sore breasts) but those have stoped now in the 32th day of my cycle.
I took a test yesterday and came out positive, but because of the blood, i asked question #1.

It is very possible you are still pregnant and didn't have a miscarriage. Many women bleed early in pregnancy. I will give you the link to a great site that can answer many of your questions.

It is possible for a home pregnancy test to detect the hcg hormone, shortly after a miscarriage.
It's not uncommon for woman in the first trimester to have spotting or even a normal period while pregnant. When you had sex it could have been just a little to rough and caused the bleeding. IF you have had a positive test, you need to call your doctor ASAP, just to make sure every thing is "OK". Good luck and Congrats.

I never had any bleeding in my pregnancy, but 3 of my very good friends did and went on to deliver very healthy happy babies. Of course it could still detect hcg from a miscarriage, but hopefully that's not the case!
