I lost my virginity on 1/19 (a condom was used). The last time I had my cycle was on 1/12.
I was fearful of pregnancy early on and when my period never came in February, I took a home pregnancy test (it was negative).
After a couple more weeks of no show, I decided to go to the doctor.
They took another test (negative).
My thyroid was also tested, but the tests showed it was okay.
I was regular with my cycle before and I have no eating/weight issues. I have been under some stress, but I would not say it is anything I can't handle.
The doctor is also baffled as to why it hasn't come. He thinks it should soon. If it does not by the end of this month, I have to see him again and he will schedule an ultra-sound.
It still is a while just to wait, and I wanted to get others' thoughts on what it may be.
Other symptoms I've been experiencing: Fatigue, excessive gas, nausea, cramps (similar to my menstruation cramps).

It's impossible to diagnose you with the history that you've given without further diagnostic tests.

Please do get the pelvic exam, pap smear, and ultra sound.

And stress will effect your cycle. But if it isn't severe, and you're extremely off, then you need to re-evaluate the situation in search for other answers.

Best of luck.

after my first time, I didn't have my period for a month and a half. I also had friends who had similar experiences.

Recently, I have missed a period (not pregnant and my thyroid checked out fine), which my doctor said was common for females. He said I really don't need to worry unless I miss 3 periods, if so, i need to come back.

You didn't mention how old you are or how long you've had a period...but in the first few years, it takes awhile to really settle down into a full routine. For example, you said you were regular before...you could all of a sudden change. When i first started my period (10years ago), it used to come in the middle of the month, then it gradually started coming at the end of the month and now it comes at the beginning of the month...so your body and cycles do change over time.

I'm just guessing, but intercourse can bring on a hormonal "surge" ie. orgasm. You might have tricked your body in to a different cycle. My Gyno told me years ago, that your body goes through cycle changes, over the years. You said you are under stress. You might think you are able to handle it, but your body knows better. You are worried about being pregnant, you might have a bit of a guilt thing going on about having sex. You have all the physical symptoms of starting a period. That's a LOT of stress! If the drs. haven't found anything wrong, try and relax. I can tell you this, for about 7 years in a row, I would completely skip my February period!

I had this happen to me when I had an injury to my pituitary gland. My period stopped for a year and it took that long to figure it out. If it isn't a pregnancy (I guess its possible the test are wrong?), then its worth going to an endocrinogist to test hormones to see if there is something going on there. The pituitary stimulates repro and other hormones so that could be the issue. Usually its caused by a cyst or tumor (almost always benign) in the pituitary. Good luck

I'm wondering if it's due to stressing over whether or not you are pregnant. It's a fact that a lot of the women in the concentration camps during the Holocaust ceased to have monthly periods because of severe emotional stress coupled with other factors. I bet that's it, ya' think? Try to relax and focus on something else.

P.S. -- I agree with Dr. Rice above that you may need to pursue further testing.

That is strange. A blood test should be drawn to determine your Hcg level, a pregnancy hormone. that would be more definitive than waiting a month for an ultrasound. But, your doctor probably wants the ultrasound to look at your ovaries and uterus anyway. sometimes there are no explanation.s

I experienced the same thing after my first time. As it turns out sex does a lot to your body, and can even mess up your cycle. I went through two pregnancy tests because I was freaking out. Turns out it was just going to be late, and I was pregnant.

because you used a condom id say your chances are slim. several things can cause your symptoms. the reason for an ultrasound may be to check for ovarian cysts. all of us have them but some people get them and they are so big that they may cause your systems.also maybe try a blood test for your pregnancy results. i dont think you should worry.

Actually, I lost my virginity last year, and I didn't have my period either. After I missed it, I gave myself those same phantom symptoms. With the same results. You'll get it any day =p
