Nebraska itself is a bit far from the cultural centers of the US, but Omaha is one of the liveliest areas of Nebraska. It attracts people from all over that region, who go there for shopping, films, theater, and other cultural events.

Omaha has quite a funky music scene, if you're into that. It's actually considered the home of "Emo", and has a large jazz and blues scene.

Most of Nebraska is quite rural, but Omaha is a decent sized city. Lincoln, which I think is about an hour away, is another lively community.

Living in Omaha won't be representative of what it's like to live in, say, New York City - remember, Omaha is one of the few large cities in a region that is primarily agricultural - but it will be interesting, there will be a lot to do there, and it will be worth your time.

Omaha has been seen in the films About Schmidt, Citizen Ruth and Election. If you have access to those films, they may give you a bit of the flavour of the place.

You'll definately be able to get SAT tutors there, probably through your school. The people there are very nice, and probably will be very interested in you, since you'll be a foreign exchange student.

Omaha is the cultural center of nebraska. Its a nice typical american city. The downtown has recently been fixed up and is a nice place to shop and hangout. There is also a historic dining and shopping district. And the river front is very nice.
Enjoy your time there.

You may expect the same as you would expect in any other location in the USA. There are large cities with all of the advantages and disadvantages of cities, and there are small towns and remote locations as well.

There are educational and cultural institutions of a variety of types and sizes. You should have no trouble finding tutors. If you go to a sizeable city, you may expect to find malls, theatres, parks, sports stadiums and auditoriums.

The weather, though occasionally severe, should be generally agreeable, year round.
