its for my dads laptop and he takes it on the road as hes a truck driver and when he wants to hook up to the internet at the truckstops he doesnt know how to change the configurations from his house wireless to change to the other its running windows xp home edition

First, you need the drivers for the wireless card. That should have come with the card. If not, check the manufacturer's website. The driver will normally have a utility to connect the card to a wireless network.

You can also use the Wireless wizard that in in the Control Panel to set up the card.

it sound like you need a wireless router that's the only way you can access the web with a computer fitted with a wireless card
