A monatomic ion is an ion consisting of a single atom.There are two types

(1) contains a metal (cation) that forms only one type of ion.
H+
Na+
Li+

(2) ionic compound contains a metal that forms more than one type of ion, i.e., ions with different charges, like
Iron(II) Fe 2+
Iron(III) Fe 3+
Copper(II) Cu 2+
Copper(I) Cu+
Tin(IV) Sn 4+
Tin(II) Sn 2+

Many more.
