I bet that most of the avatars people have chosen look nothing like them. There just isn't enough of a variety in the choices and people probably select what they think looks cool.
Using myself as an example, my avatar looks oriental, but I am not. I just think it looks cool. And besides that, there are no options for larger or "plain" looking avatars.

Yes, i fell deeply in love with this one guys avatar, he had long golden blonde hair, and was wearing a chicken suit, it was love at first sight!!!

an avatar gives you the chance to express yourself into how you'd like to be or look, use it as an excuse to fantasise of how you'd like to look or be seen.
