how guyanese people negotiate? is it different than north-america?if yes,how?

guyana is a small place with few people. most business persons know each other - from school, uni, family connections etc......
a lot of business is done fairly informally - thru connections, who you know ans who knows u.....

there are similarities as there are quite a few North american companies around (especially canadian in mining sector) so there is an influence, but the general business attitude is direct and face to face as many of the business are interlinked. I also feel there is alot more ground work done, by this I mean alot of "haggling" to give it a word, whichi dont think happens as strongly in N America.
there is also a very forcefull attitude, but not in an agressive mood, but more persuasive.
